Amelia Earhart at the Caverns

Our most distinguished visitor was Miss Amelia,Trans-Atlantic Flyer, who toured the cavern on Sunday, September the 9th. When I escorted she and her friends on a side trip in the Lower Cavern and allowed her to do some exploring on her own initiative, she stated that she had never been so fascinated in her life as during the cave trip, and accepted my invitation to become a member of our exploration party which will “run out” several of the tunnels and pits during the winter months, and promised to be back here in December or January and spend a week with us. I know the Service will be interested to know that even people who cross the Atlantic in an airplane can get a thrill in visiting the Carlsbad Cavern.
